Organized Labour Presents Fresh Proposal To FG, Demands ₦615,000 Minimum Wage. The Organized Labour has put forth a demand for a new minimum wage of ₦615,000 for workers across the country. According to an executive of the labour union who preferred anonymity, the consensus on this proposed monthly wage was reached through consultations facilitated by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The Organised Labour, represented by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), has officially communicated their demand for a new minimum wage of ₦615,000 to the government.

This consensus was reached following consultations between the labour unions and various stakeholders.

Previously, there were speculations about the possibility of demanding ₦1 million as the minimum wage due to rising inflation.

However, Joe Ajaero, the President of the NLC, clarified that the agreed-upon figure is ₦615,000.

Despite ongoing controversies and doubts raised by experts regarding the feasibility of such a wage increase, labour leaders remain firm on their stance.

They emphasized their commitment to defending the proposed wage, stating that both the NLC and TUC have harmonized their positions and communicated them to the government.

Regarding the deadline for implementation, labour leaders indicated that they are actively engaged in the process and are working towards a resolution.

However, they hinted at the possibility of further discussions with the government, particularly concerning the recent removal of the electricity tariff subsidy.

This move is seen as an opportunity to push for additional concessions in light of the new economic realities.
