FG announces three-month job opportunities for humanitarian workers in Plateau

The federal government has announced a three-month job vacancy for Plateau state humanitarian workers.

Betta Edu, minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, said in a statement on Friday that the job opportunity is part of the ministry’s New Year’s resolution to create more jobs for millions of Nigerians.

The minister stated that successful applicants would be dispatched to disaster zones to help with the humanitarian response.

She said the employment is for the duration of three months, noting  that the period could be extended to six months or one year, depending on the success rate.

“As part of the new year’s plans, the ministry will be hiring temporal Humanitarian aid workers and deploying them to every  location where there are humanitarian crises going forward,” she said.

“This will not only reduce unemployment but will improve our response time and the quality of response going forward.

“These people will be hired for three months in the first instance, and if the crisis is protracted, they may be made to stay 6 months or one-year maximum.”

Applicants with abilities and expertise in humanitarian crisis situations, according to the minister, will have an advantage.

She further stated that more relief commodities, including food and non-food items, have arrived in the Plateau LGAs of Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu.

In the previous week, attacks on communities in the three LGAs resulted in the deaths of nearly 100 individuals.

In addition, Edward Gabkwet, spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), stated that the NAF will assist the humanitarian ministry in transporting relief supplies and aid workers to crisis-affected areas.

Gabkwet, who represented Chief of Air Staff Hasan Abubakar, stated that the relationship is consistent with the civil military relations service.

“Beyond security, the Nigerian Air Force provides humanitarian support to communities working with relevant government MDA’s,” he went on to say. FG announces three-month job opportunities for humanitarian workers in Plateau
