FG and TUC Reach Agreement To Resolve Labour Issues. The Federal Government and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) agreed on Tuesday to allow President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration two weeks to resolve some of the Congress’s issues.
According to Legits.ng, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Solomon Lalong, said this at the conclusion of a meeting with the leadership of the Trade Union Congress, led by its President, Comrade Festus Osifo.
Minister Reveals President Tinubu’s Plans for N-Power
The conference was called by the Minister to address issues between the TUC and the Nigeria Labour Congress and to prevent a warning strike by organized labour.
Lalong said the issues for which a two-week timeline was set for their resolution include wage awards for federal civil servants to cushion the effect of rising poverty among them, and tax exemption for a certain level of workers, both in the public and private sectors.
